The New Referees' Training Course and Development Lecture Hall Sponsored by Jawwal as Part of the Palestinian Basketball Federation's 2025 Plan
Ramallah – Under the sponsorship of Jawwal, the Palestinian Basketball Federation inaugurated today the New Referees' Training Course - Central Region, along with the opening of the newly established lecture hall for developmental training at its headquarters on Al-Irsal Street. The hall is designed to host various training programs to support Palestinian sports professionals.
The course hosts 30 participants from diverse backgrounds who are keen on contributing to the development of Palestinian basketball. During the opening ceremony, the Federation's President, Mr. Ibrahim Habash, emphasized the importance of this course in building a robust refereeing system, improving the quality of local championships, and adhering to the standards of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Course Program
The course spans four days, divided into two phases:
- Phase One: Friday and Saturday, January 17–18, 2025
- Phase Two: Friday and Saturday, January 24–25, 2025
Mr. Bassam Thabet, a professional referee, will deliver intensive lectures covering both the theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing. The course aims to qualify participants to become certified referees in the future.
This initiative seeks to train a new generation of young referees, enhance the quality of local championships, and elevate Palestinian sports by aligning with international standards.
